xTEMPO MUSIC LAB XI_____________________________
A monthly “extemporaneous” jam session where musicians, improvisors, and writers gather in a space to compose immediately; Reacting off what they hear and the vibe of the room. No songs, forms, genres or other specific musical structures. Just a variety of instruments and minds converging. We encourage all types of musicians and instruments to join us. This is unique opportunity for a musical dialogue and discovery.

Monthly on the 2nd Wednesday from 7:30-11:00PM.
Hosted by Lake Drum Brewing in downtown Geneva, NY.

WHAT IS PROVIDED_________________________________
FLIMA (and supporters) provide a sound system with sound man. A drum kit and a bass amp will be provided. Dynamic vocal and instrument mics on boom stands. Acoustic instrument specific DI box with parametric equalizer. A 24-channel mixxer with mono or stereo direct line inputs. Two stage monitors.

WHAT YOU BRING__________________________________
Bring your instrument, voice, ears, and ideas. Outboard electronics (effect units, pedals, keys/synth, et cetera) and equipment that can plug directly into the mixer are welcome. Percussion items. Patch chords or instrument cables.

DO NOT BRING_______________________________

THE UNRULES____________________________________
1. START
Each music experiment is started by one musician or vocalist.
Others join in to add layers to the sound.

2. STOP
After 6 minutes all music stops. Then the person to the left starts off a new music experiement.

3. ROTATE
After 3 experiments each player rotates to another station or steps down to allow a new player to join in.

4. NO SONGS
Please resist the urge to play covers, original songs, or anything from memory. The goal is to create music 100% in the moment.

5. NO FORMS
Please avoid familiar formulas or song forms (12 bar blues). The goal is to react to what you hear and feel in the room.

6. TAKE RISKS
Try experiment and explore beyond your comfort zone. Sing or play instrument you normally don’t. Try chords and scales you don’t use as much. Close your eyes.
